Course Description
The course builds knowledge and awareness of child protection responsibilities, helping participants to:
- Recognise signs of abuse and neglect, including emotional, physical, and sexual abuse, neglect, domestic and family violence, and child-on-child abuse.
- Respond appropriately and support children and young people who may be at risk.
- Apply child protection principles in the context of age, gender, disability, culture, and sexuality.
Participants will also gain an understanding of the legal and ethical frameworks that underpin child protection, including the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, relevant legislation, duty of care, and ethical responsibilities.
Upon completion of CHCPRT025 Identify and report children and young people at risk, participants will be equipped to identify, respond to, and report concerns, fulfilling their legal and ethical obligations to protect children and young people.
Assessment Requirements
To complete the practical assessment (online), you will require the resources and equipment to physically complete a practical task following clear instructions and assessment guidelines.
Practical assessment
You are required to upload two (2) videos of yourself participating in simulated scenarios to complete the practical assessment component
Typically you would video yourself using your smart phone (or be recorded by a second person) undertaking the two (2) practical assessment tasks and upload the two (2) videos. Videos must be of good quality and clearly demonstrate the tasks being undertaken. A qualified assessor will view the video recordings against the benchmark criteria and mark the uploaded practical assessment videos. All assessment criteria must be met to achieve competency.
Theory assessment
The theory assessment is a written assessment consisting of case studies and multiple-choice questions.
